EDUC4833 Professional Experience Elective

This topic allows the student to determine their own learning needs and interests and to develop a professional learning project that will address those learning needs. Each student must submit an individual project proposal for approval by the topic coordinator before enrolment can be confirmed. This proposal must be submitted before the beginning of the exam weeks of the previous semester.

• To provide an opportunity for students, as beginning professional, to self-assess and plan a project or experience that will further their personal development as a teaching professional;

• To allow students to develop knowledge, skill or experience in an area of personal interest that will be of value to them in their chosen profession of teaching, and

• To support students in learning how to plan and carry out a project with appropriate aims, methodology and assessment.

• On completion of this topic students will have:

• Identified an area of need in their development as a teaching professional;

• Planned a project that will address this need by elucidating the aims, methodology for and assessment of their learning, and

• Presented a report on their project using a format that has been agreed upon with the topic coordinator.
