Course Rule notes

1.     4.5 units of Culture topic must be selected from the same language group, i.e. a student undertaking the French major must select a Culture topic with FREN prefix from the list, that is different from the two (9 units) Culture topics taken as part of the major sequence.

2 .    Chinese, German and Japanese are offered via cross-institutional study at the University of Adelaide through the Languages Outreach Program. Please visit the University of Adelaide webpage for topic information.  Students must complete at least 36 units of Flinders topics in the Bachelor of Languages that do not count towards any other Flinders award. Therefore if two of the University of Adelaide languages are chosen for the 36 unit major sequence and 18 unit minor sequence then an additional 27 units of Flinders option topics must be completed. If one of the University of Adelaide languages is chosen for the 36 unit major sequence and a Flinders language is chosen for the 18 unit minor sequence then an additional 9 units of Flinders option topics must be completed.

3.     This topic is available to all Bachelor of Languages students as an option topic. It is also offered as a Culture topic in the language major sequence. However, it can only count towards either the major or the option component, but not both.

Every effort has been made to ensure the information published on the Course Rule pages is accurate at the time of publication. Flinders University reserves the right to amend its curriculum without prior notice, and will update the Course Rules to reflect any amendments at the earliest opportunity.
