New course commencing Semester 1, 2022
The Graduate Certificate in Visual Effects and Entertainment Design is an 18-unit program offered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The course is normally completed over one semester full-time, or the equivalent part-time.
It articulates with the 36-unit Graduate Diploma in Visual Effects and Entertainment Design and the 72-unit Master of Visual Effects and Entertainment Design, and the sequentially developed topics allow progression through the three awards.
Applicants must normally hold an approved Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) from an approved tertiary institution.
However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
In addition, applicants must submit a portfolio with examples of creative work from any relevant discipline (e.g. Animation, Art, Design, Film, Games, Photography, VFX, etc.)
This course aims to produce flexible, skilled reflective practitioners who can operate with autonomy and confidence applying technical and analytical skills in the field of Visual Effects and Entertainment Design.

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Visual Effects and Entertainment Design, a student must complete 18 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the program of study below.
9 units comprising:
SCME8300 Creative Workshop 1 (4.5 units)
SCME8017 Production Project 1 (4.5 units)
Select 9 units from the following:
CREA7002 Professional Practice for the Creative Arts (4.5 units)
SCME9002 Social Media and Digital Platforms (4.5 units)
VEED9001 Digital Graphic Design Fundamentals (4.5 units)
VEED9002 Motion Capture and Virtual Production (4.5 units)
