The Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership in Health and Aged Care is an 18-unit program offered by the College of Business, Government and Law.
This course is offered part-time over two sequential semesters. It articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Health Administration and the Master of Health Administration.
Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership in Health and Aged Care must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution and at least 4 years post-degree professional experience with at least 2 years work experience at a senior management level.
The Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
The course is designed to develop executive level leadership knowledge and skills for people working in the health and aged care sectors. The course aims to assist executives and senior managers in preparing their organisation for the future in an environment of shifting policies, changing consumer expectations and digital disruption. Through an experiential learning approach, using teams embedded in organisations, it is expected that the course will also contribute to organisational learning.

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership in Health and Aged Care, a student must complete 18 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study.
9 units comprising:
HACM8001 Executive Leadership in Health and Aged Care Part A – Leading High Performance Teams (4.5 units)
HACM8002 Executive Leadership in Health and Aged Care Part B – Enterprise Leadership (4.5 units)
9 units selected from the following*:
HACM9102 Financial Management and Economics in Health and Aged Care (4.5 units)
HACM9104 Corporate Communications in Health and Aged Care (4.5 units)
HACM9200 Health and Aged Care Systems and Policy (4.5 units)
HACM9201 Health Law and Ethics (4.5 units)
HACM9202 Safety and Quality in Health Care (4.5 units)
HACM9206 Health Informatics (4.5 units)
HACM9207 Health and Aged Care Operations Management (4.5 units)
*Other postgraduate topics, relevant to a student’s field of work and professional interests may be selected with the approval of the Course Coordinator.
