To qualify for Honours in Women's Studies a student must complete satisfactorily 36 units of study as specified below. The program requires one year of full-time study or the equivalent part-time.
The Women's Studies Honours program offers students the opportunity to extend and deepen Women's Studies knowledge, skill and approaches beyond the undergraduate level. The development of an ethical understanding of the complexity of gender relations and the relations of power which form through gender and related differences is encouraged.
The program aims to develop in students an advanced understanding of feminist and related theories and their relevance and application to gendered problems.
It aims to develop in students an advanced capacity for independent research and high level and complex written and oral communication of information and ideas.
It facilitates the gaining by the student of in-depth knowledge of one particular area via the research and writing of their thesis.
It aims to prepare students for research higher degree study.
Students who successfully complete the Women's Studies Honours program should be able to:

By special arrangement an Honours topic from another discipline may be included instead of one of the optional Women's Studies topics.
