The Bachelor of Letters is a 108-unit program that must be studied concurrently with another Bachelor degree at an approved Australian higher education institution, for which 72 units of block credit will be awarded on completion of the requirements of the other degree. The Bachelor of Letters is normally undertaken part-time over three years to allow concurrent study with the other Bachelor degree, thus adding one extra year to the overall study program. The language streams must be undertaken part-time over three years or six consecutive semesters.
The Bachelor of Letters enables students to follow their interests and aspirations and enhance their career prospects by undertaking another area of study.
Students can choose one of the following streams:
*available in online and on campus modes
#available in distance education and on campus modes
Students in the language streams of French, Indonesian, Italian, Modern Greek, or Spanish can be accommodated at either beginners' or intermediate (equivalent to Year 12 SACE continuers level) levels of linguistic competence.
The stream undertaken by the student will be identified on the student’s transcript of academic record and on the parchment presented to the student on completion of the course.
Students who complete 36 units of Flinders topics according to the program of study for the relevant Bachelor of Letters stream but who do not complete the requirements of their other Bachelor degree may be eligible to exit with a Diploma of Letters.
To gain entry into the Bachelor of Letters an applicant must be enrolled in a Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) at an approved Australian higher education institution.
