The combined degrees program of Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) / Bachelor of Science requires the completion of a minimum of 180 units of study (five years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time).
Students who commence, but subsequently do not wish to complete, the combined degrees program may be eligible to transfer to either the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) or the Bachelor of Science and to receive credit for some, or all, of the topics already completed.
The minimum requirements for consideration for entry to all undergraduate courses are specified in detail in the University Entry Requirements.
Successful completion of either any of SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Studies or Mathematical Methods with a minimum grade of C- or better (or equivalent) is normally required for entry to the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) / Bachelor of Science. Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Physics is assumed.
Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year.
Students achieving a credit level average or better at the end of Semester 8 will be allowed to enrol in the Honours degree program in Engineering in their final year. Other students will be able to complete the ordinary degree program. Students admitted to the Honours degree program and maintaining a credit average or better will be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Engineering with Honours. Students who complete the Honours degree program but who fail to maintain a credit average and students who complete the ordinary degree program will be awarded the ordinary degree of Bachelor of Engineering.
The following Science Majors* are available:
*Students may undertake any Major in the Bachelor of Science. If the major is not listed on this page the Program of Study including units to complete the combined degree is available upon request from the Engineering Director of Study (note duration of the combined degree may vary depending on the Major chosen).
