This topic introduces students to the nature and function of theology at an introductory level. Students will learn the central teachings of the Christian faith, the a sources of theology, and theological methodology.
The aims of this topic are to:
introduce students to the nature and function of theology
examine a range of theological methods
introduce the central teachings of the Christian faith
develop students' skills to undertake further theological studies.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
identify the nature, sources and content of Christian theology at an introductory level
engage critically with a variety of contemporary approaches to theology
demonstrate the ability to outline the influence of context upon doctrinal development.
