Topic description
This topic provides an opportunity for students to further develop their understandings in to the field of curriculum and classroom practices associated with particular areas of learning. Students will focus teaching in their third area of learning in the middle years from Years 6 - 10.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- Develop curriculum knowledge and pedagogical applications for the middle schooling Years 6 - 10 in one area of learning
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:
- Understand the factors that inform curriculum development
- Identify and critique key elements of curriculum policy documents in area of curriculum specialisation
- Employ a variety of pedagogical approaches and classroom resources appropriate for use in area of specialisation
- Design and evaluate lesson and unit plans and teaching activities for area of specialisation
- Articulate the vital links between teaching, learning and assessment
