Through considering institutional communication students will acquire the practical knowledge and skills required to participate and succeed in a university setting. The focus on academic communication will prepare students to design and present written, spoken and multimodal texts for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences. The critical literacy aspect of this topic will address the importance of being able to read, understand and interrogate texts in many forms. Through the digital communication component students will develop skills in searching, analysing, creating and communicating information using a variety of digital media. Finally, social and cultural communication will emphasise the need to understand the socially and culturally diverse nature of the university environment.
