Fees will be charged to cover such things as transport, accommodation and food depending on the location of the field school. Students may wish to consult with the topic co-ordinator about this prior to enrolment in the topic.
This topic builds upon students' existing knowledge of recording Indigenous sites, places and landscapes, including aspects of site survey, mapping, significance assessment, conservation issues and photography, and in some years may include an excavation component.
The topic will be run in co-operation with Indigenous representatives from the host community. Indigenous participation will ensure that students are exposed to Indigenous methodologies as well as conventional Western approaches. Seminars will be presented during the field school exploring Indigenous culture, heritage management and archaeology.
