Course rules 2021

     Study Planner

The combined degrees program of Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business requires the completion of a minimum of 180 units of study*.

Students enrolled in a combined degree program must complete the full program specified within the combined program for each degree before they can graduate with either award.

Students who commence, but subsequently do not wish to complete, the combined degrees program may be eligible to transfer to either the Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Laws programs and to receive credit for some or all of the topics already completed.

*198 units minimum for the Bachelor of Laws when combined with the Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management).

Admission requirements

For admission to the program, students must apply for admission to Bachelor of Laws combined degrees through SATAC.

Eligible students who decide to take up the combined degrees program in a subsequent year will be required to apply to SATAC, or via university internal transfer, for admission to the Bachelor of Business.

Program of study

To qualify for the combined degrees of Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Laws a student must complete the following program of study with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic:

  • a Law component of 117 units for the Bachelor of Laws (which consists of 94.5 units of core topics and 22.5 units of option topics) [see Bachelor of Laws entry for further information];
  • a Business component of:
    • 63 units consisting of 36 units of core topics and a 27 unit specialisation in Marketing, Management, International Business and Innovation and Enterprise or if no specialisation is selected, 27 units of BUSN electives) or
    •  81 units consisting of 36 units of core topics and a 45 unit specialisation in Human Resource Management
  • Students are required to enrol in the Law Innovation topics INNO1100 and INNO2100 as per the combined degree Program of Study.  Where applicable BUSN option topics will replace the core INNO topics in the Business degree. 
  • If INNO1001 and/or INNO2001 have been completed prior to enrolment, credit will be granted for INNO1100 and INNO2100 and BUSN elective topics will be completed to make up the required units. 

Not all topics necessarily are available in a given year.
