WHS, evacuation and first aid

It is the responsibility of the hirer to comply with Work, Health and Safety Regulations and Flinders Victoria Square policies and procedures. Please make sure facilitators and presenters are aware of this.

Evacuation procedures

Please ensure you are aware of the local evacuation procedures.

Emergency procedures are in all teaching rooms and near telephones in the student and staff areas.

In the event of a fire, leave the building via the stairs and through the Victoria Square exit door. The evacuation point is on the grass opposite the Victoria Square entrance.

Everyone must familiarise themseles with the fire evacuation procedures on arrival.

Evacuation video

The above emergency evacuation video is on the PC desktop in each room at Flinders Victoria Square. Please play this video at the begininng of your event/meeting to familiarise yourself on the evacuation procedures of the building.

First aid

First aid kits are located in the kitchens on the ground floor and levels 1, 2, 6, 10 and 11.

In case of Emergency dial 000 or 0-000 from an internal phone and then notify Security on (08) 7221 8694 (or press the Security speed dial button from an internal phone - will divert to Bedford Park if required)

Incidents

If there is a health and safety incident, please complete the FlinSafe online form.

Electrical equipment

Ensure any portable electrical equipment, including leads, are tested, tagged and up-to-date.

Smoking

There is no smoking throughout the building or outside within four metres of the main entrances.

Security

Security at Victoria Square are on site from 4:00pm to 9.30pm Monday to Friday.

Operable walls

For safety purposes the operable walls on levels 1, 2, 10 and 11 must be operated by trained staff. Safety Operation Procedures (SOPs) can be found by the operable walls on each floor.
