Program Title: Year 4 Medical Student Exchange Program – Manipal University
Program Location: Manipal University Manipal, Karnataka, India.
Program Overview: Year 4 students in the MD course have the opportunity to obtain placement for one or two elective terms in Australia or anywhere in the world provided that the term is considered to be appropriate and approved by the Year 4 Academic Coordinator.
The aim of this elective is for Flinders Medical students to become immersed in a different culture so they can learn first-hand how to practise medicine in an environment that is quite different from their own, and where sound communication skills are paramount. In the past, students have reported that such clinical placements have provided a standout experience in their medical education, one that could not be replicated in a local environment.
Manipal University will provide assistance with securing and funding appropriate accommodation for the duration of the placement.
Students will be given appropriate support and advice during their stay to ensure their placement is as stimulating personally, culturally and educationally as is possible.
