Dear student,
I hope that you managed to enjoy a break over the past week and are connecting socially during this time of physical distancing.
Perseverance is the key in coming weeks, both in terms of your own study and in terms of our actions as a community to keep the incidence of COVID-19 decreasing. Whilst most of you are now in your mid-Semester break, this year you have the perfect opportunity to consolidate your learning and set yourself up for success in the second half of the semester. I hope you are able to make the most of this time.
Assessment
Most of you will have received advice about any changes to assessments in your Topics for this semester. The Statement of Assessment Methods will shortly be updated to reflect these changes, but if you are unsure, please contact your Topic Coordinator.
If you require an extension for an assessment this semester you should still submit your request through FLO before the due date. However, there will be no requirement for you to submit a medical certificate or other evidence with your request and all valid requests submitted on time will be approved.
Help is at hand
There has been a lot to take in over the recent weeks. If you are unsure of what help is available to you our Online Hub has all the information in one place.
The Coronavirus student website includes specific information and advice information for HDR students, and for International students.
The team in our Flinders Support Network are also available for any student to call if you want to speak to someone. You can call them during business hours on (08) 8201 5500, or request someone to call you back.
If you require urgent crisis support outside of business hours call 1300 512 409 or text 0488 884 103.
Student Services Contact Point
We have established a Student Services Contact Point for any student who needs to come onto campus and has a query. This service point is located on Level 1 of the Hub where the Flinders International reception area is usually located. The Service Point has staff from Flinders Connect, FUSA, College offices, the library and Flinders International who are available to help you if needed.
Flinders Student Support Package
A reminder that if you are facing urgent and immediate hardship, there are emergency grants now available through FUSA. You can apply here. Nearly 1,500 students have already applied and a large number have been successful. These students either have already or will shortly be receiving this necessary financial support.
The new Mathew Flinders Scholarships are also open for applications through the University scholarship website. These scholarships are valued up to $2000 and applications are due by 27 April.
Stay well and safe.
