Updated 19 October 2021
As you may be aware many businesses and institutions are rapidly moving towards requiring COVID-19 vaccination. This includes many of our placement providers and other partner organisations. It is a timely reminder that it is highly advisable for all students regardless of their field of study to get vaccinated without delay, as to not do so could affect your ability to participate in placements, affecting course progress.
This has now occurred with SA Health which has advised that COVID-19 vaccination will be a condition of entry to its facilities from 1 November 2021. The same will apply to the Northern Territory from 13 November 2021.
Students attending those sites will be required to be fully vaccinated, or to have received their first dose, with evidence of a booking to receive a second dose within one month. The only exception is for people with a medical exemption from a legally qualified medical practitioner, endorsed by the Chief Public Health Officer.
In addition, proof of vaccination status must be available upon request, and the University has been advised to maintain a register to provide evidence of vaccination status to SA Health.
To meet this requirement the University is developing a register for students to lodge their vaccination record - we will let you know when it is available.
As always, please check the SA Health COVID-19 page and Flinders’ own student portal to stay up to date, and if you have specific questions, please contact your course coordinator, or email coronavirus@flinders.edu.au
With best regards
